The Pedal & Paddle combines two of the best things you can do in the Colombian Andes into one two-day adventure. Day one is on the bike — wilderness trails through lush Andean forest, past waterfalls and monkey territory. Day two is on the water — 2.5 hours of white-water rafting on Class II to IV rapids.
These are not separate activities bolted together. The terrain, the energy, and the setting connect them. By day two you understand the watershed you were riding through on day one.
Intermediate fitness and riding skill required. You do not need rafting experience — your guide and safety crew handle everything on the water.
This Ride Is For You If
- You want more than one activity and more than one day
- White-water rafting excites you, not frightens you
- You are comfortable riding trails for a full day
- You want to experience the Andes from two different angles — trail and river
- Wildlife: monkeys, toucans, and jungle birds are a draw for you
This Ride Is Not For You If
- White-water conditions make you anxious
- You are looking for a leisurely, low-exertion activity
- You need accommodation included (overnight is separate)
- You have medical conditions that restrict water or high-intensity activities
Day One: Wilderness Trail Riding
The first day takes you deep into the Andes on 38 km of wilderness trails. The forest is dense, the waterfalls are real, and the wildlife is active — Howler Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, and a range of birds including Red-billed Toucans and Andean Cock-of-the-rocks.
You stop at several waterfalls along the route — cold, clean mountain water. Bring a swimsuit. The trail connects the riding to the landscape, not just a line on a map.
Day Two: White-Water Rafting
Day two is 2.5 hours on the river. Class II to IV rapids depending on water level and conditions. Your safety crew and guide are on the water with you throughout. No prior rafting experience required — full safety briefing before launch.
The views from the river show you the same mountains you rode through the day before, from the other side. It is a completely different perspective on the same terrain.
